Snorkelling

PDF  Snorkelling in a beautiful underwater world on the other side of the globe. Ideal snorkelling opportunities direct from the beach. The reef presents a wide range of corals and fish. in the crystal clear water at an average temperature between 25 and 29 degrees Celsius you can emerse yourself in another world where you will not only see corals and small fish but also sharks and humpbacked whale. On the other hand you must be aware that there are also poisonous underwater animals such as the stonefish, so you would be well advised to avoid entering the shallow water barefoot. There is also the small ringed (not striped) sea snake, whose poison is lethal. Luckily their jaws are too small to be able to bite a person. They are to be found in underwater caves, but there have been no reports of incidents.

The gigantic humpbacked whales can be seen between July and November. During this period you can watch them mating and listen to their song. You can be sure that swimming and snorkelling with these animals is an incomparable experience.

In Vava'u Tonga and on Ovaka island you have the ideal opportunity, since our island lies right in the middle of their mating haunts. Humpbacked whales can be seen swimming past our local reef or resting close inshore after their strenuous journey from the Antarctic.

Until our own ecological resort on Ovaka island is opened, our team will endeavour to arrange this unbelievable experience with another reputable operator.
